Class 11 - February 8, 2026

This week's presentation is an introduction to the Holy Mysteries.  We cover the terms and common theological themes we need to begin to understand sacraments, also known, as Mysteries.

Class 10 - January 11, 2026

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
giving thanks always for all things to God the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another in the fear of God.

This week's presentation discusses Christian Liturgy in terms of what services we and do and at what time we do them as part of our  goal to sanctify or redeem the time in which we live.

Class 9 - December 21, 2025

This week's presentation completes the Creed and covers the topic of the Eschaton, which means last things, namely, the Resurrection and the Life to come.

Class 8 - December 12, 2025

This week's presentation covers is a quick discussion on groups of saints that we commemorate in the proskomedia (the service of preparation for the Divine Liturgy) and in the divine liturgy with a discussion on why we do these lists in a particular order.

Class 7 - November 30, 2025

This week's presentation covers the Creed's statement that we "acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins."  First we covered New Testaments texts concerning baptism and rap up a discussion on the ancient approaches to the integretation of thos whose baptisms performed by groups that were no longer in communion with the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

Class 6 - November 23, 2025

This week's presentation has two sections. Section one covers the the Church in the Nicean Creed.  Section two discusses antiphonal signing as originally done starting in the fourth century.  Then we tried it out by learning the Galician "God is with Us" hymn used at Great Compline.

Class 5 - November 2, 2025

This week's presentation concerns the ways in which scriptural texts can be chanted during our liturgical services.

Class 4 - October 19, 2025

This week's presentation concerns the Nicaean Creed's presentation on the Holy Spirit as preceding from The Father, the Spirit's divinity and work in creation and salvation.

Class 3 - October 12, 2025

This week's presentation has two sections. Section one continues our discussion on the Son of God focusing on His saving actions in the Nicaean Creed (The passion, the resurrection, the ascension and the second coming).  Section two of the class continues our introduction to scripture concerning manuscripts and translation. 

Class 2.5 - October 4, 2025

This week's presentation is quick (18 minute) follow up on a question presented in class 2 concerning the use "Light from Light" in the creed.  Father Silouan reviews both the consensus view of what "Light from Light" meant at the council and looks at the scriptural use of the metaphor of light in reference to God, especially in both the Hebrew and Septuagint text.

Class 2 - September 28, 2025

This week's presentation has two sections. Section one covers the first section concerning the Son of God in the Nicean Creed.  Section two of the class covered an introduction to scripture as understood as a theological reflection on God's covenant with His people.
